Handmade Leather Hunting/Shooting Bag #137
This is another unique, completely handmade and handsewn with waxed linen thread, leather hunting or shooting bag. This is a very simple early style of bag. A bag that would have seen use in the 18th or early 19th centuries. The bag is made from 3-4oz veg tanned cowhide. The straps are made from 4-5oz veg tanned cowhide. The bag measures 8 inches wide at the middle and 8 inches from top to bottom. The buckle strap measures 16 inches long, 1 1/4 inches wide, and features an aged solid brass buckle. The two piece long strap measures 57 inches long, 1 1/4 inches wide, and features 8 holes for adjustment. The bag features include, an inside pocket, bound main pocket edge, and a period correct oil and beeswax finish. I have given the bag and straps an aged look. Both have been stained black. I used a period correct neatsfoot oil and beeswax conditioner for the finish.
Everything has been done completely by hand. It has been cut, sewn with waxed linen thread, dyed, and finished by hand, no machines or assembly line methods used at all just to save time.
