Handmade Leather Shoulder Bag #141

This is another one-of-a-kind, completely handmade and handsewn with waxed linen thread, leather shoulder bag. The bag is made from 3-4oz veg tanned cowhide. The gusset is made from 4-5oz veg tanned cowhide. The straps are made from 1 1/4 inch wide hemp webbing and are attached to the bag using solid brass d-rings. The bag measures 12 inches wide and 10 1/2 inches from top to bottom. The full gusset tapers from 2 1/2 inches wide at the bottom to 1 1/2 inches wide at the top. The buckle strap measures 11 3/4 inches long and features a solid brass buckle. The long strap measures 47 inches long and features 10 holes for adjustment. I added two pockets to the inside of the bag. The large one measures 7 inches wide and the smaller one measures 2 1/2 inches wide. I added leather trim to the edge of the main pocket. I used copper rivets on the front of the bag for added strength. The edges of the leather have been hand burnished. I used oil and Fiebing's Bag Kote as a finish for some water resistance.
Everything has been done completely by hand. It has been cut, sewn with waxed linen thread, dyed, and finished by hand, no machines, assembly line methods, or pre-colored leather was used at all just to save time.
